School of Excellence Winter Term

Radford and Pulaski County, VA (October 26, 2020) - Rush soccer helps young players reach their next level, stay active, and keep involved in low-risk outdoor winter soccer. School of Excellence winter term registration is now open at Dublin and Radford locations. Players may register for one or both winter terms at

The School of Excellence Program is an intensive six-week program geared towards players who are ready to take their footballing commitment to the next level. It is designed for players of all interest, experience, and ability levels seeking a higher level of instruction between the ages of 10 and 14.  It offers an exceptional transitional opportunity for recreational players preparing to join a competitive club or scholastic-based pathway. Featuring an established curriculum and guided by a passionate and committed licensed coaching staff, the School of Excellence offers extraordinary player development.  The training environment is fun, structured and safe – a place where players can express themselves and learn what soccer has to offer, the Rush Way.

There is no cost to register and attend the first week of training on a trial basis; however, players and parent/guardians must commit to participate at a high standard for regular attendance, take home challenges, journaling, and virtual tactical modules. Weekly take home play assignments are mandatory. Completion reinforces SoE lessons and provides an opportunity for personal accountability, continual learning, and development.

For each age group, one training session each week focuses on 1v1, 2v1, and 2v2 themes using street soccer games within US Soccer's Play-Practice-Play model. The second session offers small group tactical play in groups of 3 or more using rondo and positional play training games. Rush hosts separate boys and girls player pools at each location.

All players who satisfactorily complete the program earn a $50 single season registration voucher for SWVA Champions Cup League - SWVA Rush Soccer's regional advanced soccer competition format. Players wishing to compete in the Spring 2021 league can do so before middle and high school season kickoff in mid April.

The academy model provides children with a high quality, "footballing" education. The club strives to provide a high quality youth sports experience for the players, coaches and families who are our members and stakeholders. Our vision is to engage families and empower players.
